Accuracy is hits divided by every click you made inside the pad, so an empty-space click costs you the same as it does in a game. Targets you never reach are reported separately as expired. A personal best is only recorded for a run where you hit at least half the targets, and it never leaves this browser.

How the mouse accuracy test works

Pick a difficulty, press Start, and a target appears somewhere in the pad. Click it and the next one spawns immediately, somewhere else. The run ends after exactly 20 targets, so every run is directly comparable to your last one at the same difficulty.

Three things are timed to the millisecond: when each target appeared, when you clicked, and where the click landed. A click inside the circle is a hit, a click anywhere else in the pad is a miss, and a target you never reach before its time limit expires is recorded as expired rather than as a miss — those are different mistakes and averaging them together would hide both.

Press Escape at any point to abandon a run. An abandoned run is discarded rather than scored, because a half-finished set of targets is not a measurement of anything.

The four difficulty tiers

Target size scales with the width of the pad, so a tier keeps its shape from a phone to a 27-inch monitor. What does not scale is the distance between targets — a wide window means longer journeys and a slightly slower average at the same skill, so compare runs at one window size rather than across devices. The time limit is how long a single target stays up before it expires. On a touchscreen, stay on Easy or Medium: a fingertip covers far more than a 13 px Insane target, so the smaller tiers measure your screen rather than your aim.

Start on Medium. Easy exists to show you the mechanics and Insane exists to be frustrating; neither tells you much about your aim on its own. The useful signal is the same tier run five or six times over a week.

What the numbers mean

Accuracy and reaction time trade against each other, which is the whole point of measuring both. Slowing down will nearly always raise accuracy, and a score is only meaningful next to the pace it was set at.

How this differs from a reaction test or a CPS test

These three tools measure three different things and are easy to confuse:

If your accuracy here is poor while your reaction time elsewhere is good, the problem is not your reflexes — it is your sensitivity, and the place to start is measuring what your mouse is actually running at with the Mouse DPI Analyzer. If you get a hit registered as two, or clicks that never land at all, the switch may be failing; the Double Click Test will say so in about twenty clicks.

What is a good score on a mouse accuracy test?

There is no published distribution for this test and nothing here collects one, so treat any figure as a rough expectation rather than a measurement: on Medium a comfortable run tends to sit above 75% accuracy with an average around half a second per target. What matters is your own trend across several runs at one difficulty and one window size — comparing your Easy run against somebody else's Insane run tells you nothing at all.

How is accuracy calculated?

Accuracy is hits divided by every click you made inside the target area, so a click on empty space costs you exactly what it costs you in a game. Targets that run out of time before you reach them are reported separately as expired, because that is a speed problem rather than a precision problem and mixing the two would hide both.

How is this different from a reaction time test or a CPS test?

A reaction time test measures one thing — how fast you respond to a colour change, with no aiming in it. A CPS test measures how many clicks per second you can produce without moving the pointer at all. This test is both of those with a distance to cover: you have to find a target, move to it, and stop on it precisely, and that last part is what actually transfers to a game.

Does my mouse DPI or pointer speed change the result?

Quite a lot. Your score here reflects the sensitivity your desktop pointer runs at, not the one your game runs at, so a browser run is not a fair proxy for in-game aim. Keep DPI and pointer speed fixed between runs if you want the numbers to be comparable, and measure your mouse's real DPI first if you are not certain what it is.

Does a higher polling rate or refresh rate improve my score?

Slightly, and by less than most people expect. The page timestamps a click the moment the browser reports it, so a 1000 Hz mouse reports every 1 ms where a 125 Hz one reports every 8 ms — up to 7 ms saved — and a faster monitor shows the target a frame sooner. Both are worth single-digit milliseconds against averages measured in the hundreds — sensitivity and technique move the number far more.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Every timestamp is taken and averaged in your browser, and your personal best is kept in this browser's local storage. Clearing site data clears the best score, and opening the page on another device starts a fresh one.
